Voted Best Preschool in Sussex County!
At Tiny Town Preschool, we believe a high quality early childhood education is extremely beneficial to today's young children. Our state-licensed and accredited preschool programs encourage children to develop physically, emotionally, socially, and cognitively, while building feelings of high self-esteem and a positive attitude toward school.
We understand how crucial the preschool years are to a child's development. It is during this time children will learn trust, independence, confidence, self-expression, as well as, academic and social skills. These skills will reflect the child's environment and experiences. This is why providing a warm, friendly, exciting, and secure environment is so imporant to us at Tiny Town.
What makes Tiny Town so special is our unique and diverse curriculum program. the administrative staff, along with the teaching staff, developed an one=of-a-kind program by combining several well-known, effective resources and educational materials, such as Handwriting Without Tears, Hooked on Phonics, NJ's Department of Education's Preschool Teaching and Learning Expectations Standards, NJ's Department of Education's Core Curriculum Standards, NAEYC, HighScope, and more! It is our belief children should be exposed to multiple activities, materials, and subjects to better prepare them for Kindergarten and grade school. Since new technology and research is continually being developed, our curriculum is reviewed and enhanced each year to ensure children receive the best education available!
The programs at Tiny Town have been desgned to stimulate the growth and development of each and every child. Our programs are fun and child oriented, which enables us to enhance the children's ability to interact with others, refine their listening skills, and foster independence. Each child is guided through his/her day with age-appropriate, teacher directed, and child initiated activities in all curriculum areas including math, language arts, science, arts and crafts, music, cooking, dramatic play, and community involvement.
All of the programs at Tiny Town are instructed through active learning. active learning incorporates "hands on" learning experiences, which greatly heightens the child's educational experiences and increases the knowledge retained. this beneficial approach to learning provides children with a variety of educaitonal experiences, opportunities to express choices and opinions, while teaching them how to solve any problems or obstacles they may encounter. it's important to remember "learning" does not necessarily occur by sitting at a table, while listening to a teacher "teach".
Since we believe a child's education is constructed with the teamwork of parent and teacher, communication between Tiny Town and students' families is very important to us. Each month a newsletter is sent home, which outlines the lessons planned, as well as, any special activities and/or dates. Additionally, parents are kept abreast of their child's progress with quaterly Progress Reports and a mid-year Parent/Teacher Conference.

Fun with Mathematics: Math doesn't only exist on paper! The goal of this class is to make math real for preschoolers. Encouraging their natural enthusiasm for learning by teaching math through hands-on projects, activities and games, children gain knowledge of math concepts that they can connect to activities in their daily lives. Math concepts that are introduced in our class are: number recognition, counting, addition, subtractions, geometry (patterns & shapes), measurement, and graphing .
Tuesday: Preschool Students
Friday: PreK and Jr. Kindergarten Students
Exploring Science: An interest in Science begins with a preschoolers' natural curiosity. However, a love of science develops in the child, who is given an opportunity to experiment and to explore. Our science based curriculum promotes language and literacy development while providing the children with hands-on opportunities to experiment, communicate, predict, classify, and practice observing as they explore the world around them.
Monday: PreK and Jr. Kindergarten Students
Culture Quilt: Students discuss the similarities and differences in other cultures. In this quilt of culture, students sing and dance to music of the culture being taught. Learners experience food, holidays, family activity, animals and sports of that nation. Four countries will be explored over a nine month period. Foreign Languages, as well as Sign Language, will be a culture that will be discussed and learned about throughout all nine months.
Music/Cooking: All preschoolers love music and know that cooking is great fun! However what they don’t know is how truly important these activities are. Listening to music and participating in musical movement stimulates brain development and plays an important role in promoting language, creativity, coordination, memory, social skills, and builds self esteem. Cooking incorporates both math and science concepts, promotes language development, and strengthens following directions. Classes will alternate weekly between music and cooking. Our curriculum provides the children lots of hands-on and ears-on activities that are important to their overall development.
Wednesday: PreK and Jr. Kindergarten Students
Handwriting Without Tears: The Handwriting Without Tears curriculum draws from years of research to provide developmentally appropriate, multisensory tools and strategies for your child. Here is why this program is so successful:
•HWT teaches orders move progressively from writing readiness in preschool, to printing in grades PreK-2, and cursive in grades 3-5+. The scope and sequence of lessons is based on research about how children learn best.
•The HWT program follows research that states children learn more effectively by actively doing and by using the different senses.
•HWT takes a unique physical approach to instruction that addresses posture, grip, and paper positioning.
Thursday: Preschool Students
Language Arts/Phonics through Orton Gillingham: The Orton-Gillingham approach to reading began in the 1920's and many reading programs across the globe incorporate methods based on these principles. Multisensory teaching is an important aspect of this program. It involves the use of visual(language we see) auditory (language we hear) and kinesthetic-tactile (language we feel). Students learn to link speech sounds to letters by saying sounds for letters they see, or writing letters for sounds they hear, They also use their hand, body and/or movement to support their comprehension of rading language.
